Nestled within the misty mountains of Geneva, these two lovebirds tied the knot & celebrated in what was a charming riot of an evening
Before photographing their wedding, Gabriela and Andre were actually not strangers to me. In fact, I played a fairly significant role in their engagement! Back in LA, in 2011, Andre called me with an 11th hour request to record his proposal to Gabriela. The two of them were vacationing in town and Andre had chosen the iconic Geoffrey’s in Malibu as the place for the proposal. Gabriela, of course, said yes, and I had the privilege of capturing the adorable moment.
Fast-forward of few months, and the soon-to-be-newlyweds are calling me from their home in Paris. They ask me to be their destination photographer for their upcoming wedding in Geneva Switzerland. Of course, I said yes! For me, this was a once in lifetime chance to capture the nuptials of a sweet couple, in a glorious setting.
The Destination Wedding of Gabriela and Andre at Domaine de Plein-Vent, Switzerland
The morning preparations on the day of the wedding saw Andre slip into a sophisticated, silver suit. While Gabriela put on a unique bridal gown full of dramatic pleats and pearl detailing throughout. It was the perfect complement to her coordinated pearl necklace. Ready, the pair made their way to the church. A picturesque whitewashed building with a delicate spire pointing up towards the heavens, surrounded by misty mountains and endless greenery. Inside, the heavy set stone walls were the perfect rustic backdrop to our couple.
Gabriela and Andre exchanged their vows in what was a touching, loving ceremony. Following the nuptials, the group made their way outside and threw the customary confetti on the newlyweds. But before the happy couple could join their friends and family at La Côte d’Or for cocktail hour, we needed to take some portraits.
When shooting a destination wedding, the photographer is often blessed with some stunning backdrops, and this was especially true where we were in Switzerland. The grounds of the La Côte d’Or estate were just so pristine, and wonderfully romantic. With hundred-year-old trees, country-style stone walling and verdant greenery all gifting their portraits a modern fairy tale feel.
Newlyweds toasted, it was time to really get the party started! Domaine de Plein-Vent was the reception destination for this wedding in Switzerland. I was blown away when I saw the venue for the first time. Entering the estate via a long paved path, the place just opens up around you. And offers glimpses of the manicured gardens, turquoise colored pool and the many pretty stone buildings that make up this incredible wedding venue.
The Reception
Inside Domaine de Plein-Vent, the main room was decorated decadently, yet stylishly. With chic bursts of white floral details dotted throughout, that contrasted effortlessly with the ancient stone and wood aesthetic of the space. You could see how impressed Gabriela and Andre’s guests were with the reception decor.
The happy couple partied the night away with their loved ones. Enjoying multiple toasts, traditional wedding games and a talented DJ who helped to keep the group on their feet throughout the evening. It was a wonderful celebration to be a part of, and I felt privileged to capture such an elegant destination wedding in Switzerland.
